1933 - The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) was established through the New Deal under FDR, the president who was in a wheelchair.  

Cesar Chavez was also born on this day in 1927.  The "Roaring" 20's!
Did you know that the National Anthem is often, if not always, sung before American sporting events?

Isaac Newton allegedly came up with a theory for gravity in the 17th Century.  Then in the 20th Century, Albert Einstein came up with a new theory for gravity.  Neither of these two men is American by birth, but Einstein did spend some time in the United States of America.

In 1903, the Wright brothers obtained an airplane patent.  They flew at a place called "Kitty Hawk".
Humphrey Bogart was an American actor who was in Casablanca and died in 1957.
In America yesterday, No. 9 seed Northern Iowa upset No. 1 seed Kansas in the NCAA tournament in America.  James Naismith, the inventor of basketball, was Canadian but he died in Lawrence, Kansas, USA.
